Muscular vein
with a small amount of smooth muscle cells
(Superior vena cava)
(hematoxylin-eosin)
1. Define
t.intima, t.media
and
t.adventitia
in the vessel wall:
t.adventitia
is more prominent (3-4 times thicker than the tunica interna and media)
find endothelium in
t.intima
(nuclei are only visible), subtly defined subendothelial layer, the internal elastic membrane is missing;
t.media
contains smooth muscle cells placed in bands which are divided by layers of loose connective tissue;
t.adventitia
is formed by loose connective tissue with numerous collagen fibers and contains vasa vasorum;
striated cardiac muscle cells can be seen around the SVC and in
t.adventitia
(the study segment is taken around its origin in the right atrium).
2. Draw
a segment of the wall, see to the correlation of the membrane width.
Point out:
I - tunica intima (1 - endothelium),
II - tunica media
(2 - circumferential smooth muscular bands, 3 - collagen fibers),
III - tunica adventitia
(4 - loose connective tissue).
3. Define and write
significant features of the preparation
