1. Find t.mucousa, muscular layer and t.adventitia:
- mucous membrane is lined with simple columnar/cylindrical glandular epithelium; it contains the lamina propria of the mucous membrane, muscularis mucosae and the submucosa;
- mucous membrane reveals numerous depressions of the epithelium into the lamina propria – gastric pits ( notice the depth of the gastric pits in comparison with the width of the the lamina propria);
- find intrinsic (fundal) glands in lamina propria;
- pyloric glands consist of the neck and branched coiled mucous terminal regions.
2. Draw and sign:
- I - lamina propria of mucous membrane (1 - gastric pits, 2 – superficial epithelial cells, 3 – isthmus of pyloric gland, 4 – terminal mucous region);
- II - muscularis mucosae (5);
- III - submucosa (6).
