1. The main features:
- secretory exocrine components of the pancreas (acini) are lined with simple glandular epithelium – exocrine cell of pancreas (the acinar cells);
- the basal part of acinocytes has a well-developed rough endoplasmic reticulum (in light microscopy it corresponds basophilic homogenous zone)
- the apical part of acinar cells contains Golgi complex and numerous secretory granules (in light microscopy it corresponds oxyphilic zymogenic zone);
