1. Find pia mater, the delicate innermost layer of the meninges with blood vessels, find neurons placed as vaguely limited layers (plates) in the grey matter:
- the molecular layer is located on the outer surface of the furrow and contains a small number of tiny neurons (horizontal neurons);
- the external granular layer is made up of small pyramidal and stellate neurons;
- the external pyramidal layer is varied in the width, it has a big number of pyramidal neurons of different sizes and various non-pyramidal neurons;
- the internal granular layer is made up of small pyramidal and stellate neurons.
- the internal pyramidal layer has large and giant (motor cortex) pyramidal neurons;
- a multiform layer is made up of neurons having different shapes (fusiform cells and stellate neurons), cells in the inner zone are smaller and have a bigger distance between one another.
2. Draw and sign:
- 1 - molecular layer,
- 2 - external granular layer,
- 3 - external pyramidal layer,
- 4 - internal granular layer,
- 5 - internal pyramidal layer,
- 6 - multiform layer,
II - white matter,
III - pia mater,
IV - blood vessels.
3. Define and write significant features of the slide.
