1. Study the layers in the structure of the anterior wall of the eyeball:
- corneal epithelium (stratified squamous non-keratinized) lies on the basement membrane (anterior limiting membrane);
- substantia propria (corneal stroma) makes up the major part of the cornea width (up to 90%) and is composed of dense fibrous connective tissue, which doesn’t contain any blood or lymphatic vessels;
- posterior limiting membrane – 3D network of collagen fibers (basement membrane of the endothelium of anterior chamber);
- endothelium of anterior chamber (simple squamous epithelium).
2. Draw and sign:
1 - corneal epithelium,
2 - anterior limiting membrane,
3 - substantia propria/corneal stroma,
