ct_09. Fibrous cartilage tissue
(hematoxylin-eosin)
1. Take a closer look at the fibrous cartilage structure:
- fibrous cartilage tissue is the strongest type; it blends into hyaline cartilage, bone, or dense fibrous connective tissue;
- chondrocytes have elongate or spherical shape and are enclosed in lacunae. Chondrocytes lie singly, in pairs, or in short rows between bundles of dense collagen fibers. Thick layers of collagen fibres are orientated in the direction of pressure applied in order to further reinforce it.
2. The sample is studied without drawing.
3. Define and write significant features of the fibrous cartilage specimen.
